William P. Pryll

William “Ponch” Pryll, 68, of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, with his wife and children by his side.

Bill was known for his love of life, his family, and his passions. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family—whether traveling together, attending concerts, or simply being at home surrounded by the people he cared about most. Some of his happiest moments were shared during family trips, holidays, and summer nights filled with music on the pier. He enjoyed decorating for Halloween, solving crossword puzzles, and shooting at the range. He approached every day with curiosity and a sense of adventure, always finding joy in creating memories with those he loved.

A proud sports fan, Bill cheered with unwavering loyalty for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and New York Yankees.

After graduating with a technician degree, Bill was recruited by IBM, where he worked for several years before returning to his hometown. He then began a long and successful career at Verizon as a lineman, retiring after many years of service.

Above all, Bill deeply loved his wife, Mary Ann. Married for 42 years, the two shared an inseparable bond, and he wanted nothing more than to be by her side every minute of every day. Their love was steady, genuine, and at the heart of everything he did.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Pryll; his children, Bradley Pryll, Kevin (Ang) Pryll, Brianna D’Angelo, Amber Smith, and Nicole Joiner (Thiago Leite); his cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Natasha, Keizer, Tiyanna, Glasya, Carter, Presley, Milania, and Violet; and his siblings, Ed (Patty) Pryll, Jr., James Pryll, Sandra Waskiewicz, Mary (Kenneth) Bushman, Roxanne Pryll, Herman “Mike” Pryll, Kathy Miller, and Luis “Ollie” Sanchez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bettie Mae Pryll; his sister, Pearl Diane Salgado; and his brothers, David Pryll and Jose Sanchez.

Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who shared in his laughter, warmth, and adventures.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church; 1032 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery Columbarium.
