Wanda R. (Bane) Gonzalez, 63, of Dunkirk, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2025 at Brooks Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Jamestown, NY on November 16, 1961, daughter of the late Fred A. "Bazz" Bane Sr. and Cynthia A. (Hotchkiss) Fischer.
A graduate of Forestville High School, Wanda dedicated many years of her career to Disney, where she served as a Tram Conductor, bringing happiness to countless visitors. Her passion for making others smile extended beyond her time at Disney as she later became a Residential Advisor for Job Corp in Cassadaga. In this role, she continued to guide and support those around her, embodying her steadfast commitment to helping others.
Her journey was marked not only by her work but also by her profound love for her family. Known affectionately as "mom" to many, Wanda cherished the moments spent with her beloved grandchildren, embracing every opportunity to create lasting memories.
She was known for her happy demeanor, unwavering trustworthiness, and dependable nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her interests reflected her joyful outlook on life; she was a devoted Disney fanatic, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and delighted in listening to country music. Wanda also found peace and creativity in crocheting.
Survivors include her children Alicia Ameno, Jon Gonzalez, and Vanessa (Luis Sanchez) Gonzalez; grandchildren Delilah Rodriguez, Gloriana Sanchez, Yazmin Sanchez, Christopher Whitfield, Jr., and Angel Gonzalez; siblings Ron (late Judy) Dyke, Ann (Lee) Morgan; 13 adoptive siblings and her god-daughter Lindalee Diaz. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded by her step-father Jon Fischer and adoptive mother Betty Pryll.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2-5 p.m. at the Salvation Army Church; 704 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in private.
