Sandra J. Gizowski

Sandra "Sandy" Gizowski, 77, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA, following a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Born on March 10, 1949, in Dunkirk, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kozlowski.

Sandy found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid bingo and card player, an enthusiastic reader, and cherished every moment spent with her family. She was an active member of the local senior center, where she enjoyed participating in outings, day trips, and visits to the casino with friends.

A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Sandy was a graduate of St. Hyacinth School, and a class of 1961 graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School. Sandy spent her entire adult life serving the public through her work with the Chautauqua County Office of Probation, until she retired in 2010.

She is survived by her beloved children, Jeffrey Gizowski of Dunkirk, NY, and Jennifer Gizowski of Vero Beach, FL; and her cherished grandson, Jayden. She is also survived by her siblings: Barb (Thomas) Griffiths, Gary (Carol) Kozlowski and Cynthia (Hugh) Kozlowski, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Kozlowski.

Sandy will be remembered for her warm heart, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. Interment will be held in private. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
