Sandra Jean (Gillespie) Giebner, 79, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Brooks Memorial Hospital with her loving husband by her side. Born and raised in Cambridge, MA, she is the wife of James C. Giebner, Sr. and daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (Crowley) Gillespie.
It was in Oceanside, California, where she met her husband in 1966 while he was serving in the Marines, and from that moment on, they built a life together filled with joy. Throughout her life, Sandra dedicated herself to her family, embodying the role of a devoted homemaker. She also spent time as a Postal Worker for the United States Postal Service, but it was her commitment to her loved ones that truly defined her legacy. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she devoted herself to creating a loving home that was filled with warmth and joy.
Sandra was exceptionally proud of her children and took great joy in watching them achieve their goals. This pride extended to her grandchildren, with whom she cherished every moment. Her deep affection for her family was palpable, and she found joy in spoiling them with love and attention.
Known for her generous spirit, Sandra was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Her selflessness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving an impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sandra exhibited remarkable strength and resilience, particularly during her treatments, showcasing her strong-willed nature.
One of her favorite pastimes was visiting the casino with her family. Moreover, Sandra was a devoted fan of Kenny Rogers, attending many of his concerts over the years, and she found great enjoyment in watching Jeopardy, often proudly answering questions along with the contestants.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, James C. Giebner, Sr, whom she married on August 24, 1967, and her loving children Jacqueline (late Aaron) Smith, Joanne (Jose) Giebner-Cornier, Jennifer Giebner-Donato, and James C.(Alisha) Giebner, Jr. and her grandchildren Jordan and Jamison Giebner.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her beloved Canine companion, Deion.
