Ruth Mary Monter

She was born April 12, 1927 in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Angelo and Anna (Perillo) Desko.

Survivors include six children, Victoria Anne (William A. III) Washington of Columbus, GA, Andrew R. Jr. (Bette) Monter of Silver Creek, Victor J. Monter of Fredonia, Miranda L. (Roger L.) Combs of San Antonio, TX, Mary J. Monter of San Marcos, and Alberta (Robert) Roth of Silver Creek; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew F. Monter; one grandson, Lee Monter; eight siblings, Amelia Valentine, Mary Jones, Peter Desko, Joanne Valentine, two infant twins, Joseph and Carl Desko, Carl Desko, and Althea Giacchino.

Calling hours will be held Today, Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 10-1 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave., Dunkirk. A funeral service will be held immediately after the calling hours at 1 p.m. Father Daniel Fiebelkorn will officiate. Entombment will be in the Assumption Mausoleum of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dunkirk.
