Roger K. Heyden, 79, of Dunkirk, peacefully passed away Monday evening
(November 17, 2025) surrounded by his family.
He was born November 11, 1946, in Dunkirk the son of the late Karl and
Genevieve (Johnson) Heyden. A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Roger was a graduate
of Dunkirk High School, Erie Community College and Fredonia State University.
He was employed at Al Tech Specialty Steel, GHI and the City of Dunkirk.
He was a member of the Moniuszko, Conservation, and First and Fourth Ward
Falcon Clubs. He liked going out to the clubs with his brother and friends to watch
football and other sporting events.
He enjoyed spending his evenings at home with his son and his best friend Gus
(his cat) and having his nightly bowl of chocolate ice cream. In the summer
months he enjoyed gardening and a Saturday afternoon at Barts Cove with many
of his lifelong friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Pauline, family
members and their friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Pauline (Edwards) Heyden.
He is survived by his son Scott, sister Diane, and brother Paul.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Friday, November 21, 2025
from 4-7 p.m. at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY.
Funeral services and interment will be held in private.
Donations can be made to Lakeshore Humane Society or Roswell Park
Comprehensive Cancer Center.
