Melanie M. D'Andrea, 70, of Dunkirk, passed away suddenly, Thursday, April 18, 2024 at home. Born on December 23, 1953 in Silver Creek, NY, the daughter of the late Bernard and Estelle (Brzyski) Winkler.

Melanie's journey in healthcare began after graduating from Dunkirk High School and pursuing her passion by attending nursing school to become a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career, she worked at various hospitals across the United States, spreading care and comfort to countless patients in various hospitals.

Beyond her professional life, Melanie cherished moments spent with loved ones. She had a special fondness for creating Christmas cookies each year, bringing joy to those around her. 

Melanie will be remembered for her warm personality and thoughtful nature. She was known for her generosity, wisdom, and strong sense of empathy. Melanie had a special gift for listening intently and providing sage advice to those in need. Her presence meant the world to many individuals who found comfort in her caring words and actions.

Melanie had a diverse set of hobbies and interests that brought her happiness - from listening to Classic Rock music and attending concerts to finding solace in beach walks while listening to the calming waves. Her love for arts and crafts, solving puzzles, and caring for her beloved pets - French Bulldogs Tootsie and Ziggy, cat Callie, and Cockatiel Big Ben - highlighted her caring and gentle spirit.

She is survived by her son William Boyd; sisters Christine Woodbury and Annie O'Sullivan; niece Alicia O'Sullivan; as well as numerous other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Melanie is preceded in death by her father Bernard Winkler and mother Estelle (Brzyski) Winkler.
