Mary Ann (Kaczor) Porpiglia, 91, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 8, 2026 at St. Columban's On the Lake Retirement Home with her loving family by her side. Born in Dunkirk on June 8, 1934, she was the wife of the late Charles "Chuck" Porpiglia, and daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Majkut) Kaczor.
A devoted homemaker for many years, Mary Ann's nurturing spirit was evident in all aspects of her life. Alongside her role in the home, she contributed her talents to various workplaces, including the A&P market, Kraft Foods, and Cease's Commissary in her younger years.
Mary Ann was known for her generous heart and welcoming nature. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, often feeding anyone who stopped by her home; she made sure no one ever left hungry. Her basement was a warm gathering place where family gatherings were held, and Sunday family dinners became cherished traditions for loved ones and visitors alike.
A devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Mary Ann demonstrated her commitment to her faith through her service as treasurer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Trinity for many years, where she helped those in need. Her dedication did not go unnoticed, as she was honored with the St. Joseph's Worker Award, a testament to her spirit of service and compassion.
In addition to her nurturing hospitality, Mary Ann had a deep passion for baking and cooking, which brought joy to countless family members and friends. She also found solace in crocheting and knitting, creating numerous items for families welcoming newborns into their lives. Mary Ann also enjoyed spending time with her late husband, Chuck, particularly at casinos, where they shared many memorable experiences.
Mary Ann's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Columban's On the Lake and also to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care for their exceptional care of Mary Ann.
Survivors include her loving children Virginia (Frank) Jourdanais, Joseph (Karen) Porpiglia, Charles (Pam) Porpiglia and Michael (Rhonda) Porpiglia; five grandchildren: Christopher (Kaitlin), Giana (Matt), Lucas, Michael and Siera Porpiglia; three great-grandchildren: Calvin, Charles, and Connor; her sister Eleanor, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband Charles "Chuck" Porpiglia, whom she married on October 30, 1954, and her granddaughter Janine Jourdanais.
