Kirk S. Lombardo, affectionately known to many as "Boom-Boom" and "Captain", passed away following a brief illness at Buffalo General Hospital on June 4, 2026. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 27, 1959, he was the son of the late Samuel and Rita (Barone) Lombardo.
A graduate of Dunkirk High School, Kirk first made his mark in the local music scene of the 1980s and 1990s. Renowned for his exceptional talent as a keyboard player, he contributed to multiple rock bands, most notably Tokyo Rose.
After the disbandment of Tokyo Rose, Kirk transitioned seamlessly into the world of audio engineering. He found a place at Altec Lansing in the research and development sector, where he was deeply involved with speaker design. His remarkable skills and dedication led him to become a well-respected audio engineer across Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California—states where he made his professional home at various points in his career. Kirk’s work opened international doors as well, with his career leading him to numerous corners of the globe, particularly China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
From his earliest days, Kirk harbored a fascination with fireworks, a passion he nurtured through adulthood with the distinction of holding a pyrotechnic license.
Each year, he eagerly anticipated attending the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a highlight that allowed him to connect with peers in his field.
Kirk is survived by his loving daughter Skyler Lombardo, sister Lesley (Harry) Fager and his dear friend Marie Lawrence.
