Joseph P. Szach

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph P. Szach announced his passing on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 at the age of 69.

Joe is survived by his son, Michael Szach and grandson, Jaxon of Florida, his brother Ronald (Mary Jane) Szach of Dunkirk, his sisters Linda (George) Catalano of Raleigh, NC and Cynthia Szach of Dunkirk, also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Aloysius F. Szach and Assunta “Tina” DeAlferi Latimer of Dunkirk.

Joe attended Dunkirk City Schools and was a graduate of Fredonia High School. Joe was well known for his harmonica and bugle playing talent. One of the fondest memories of his was that during a Chuck Berry concert at the Chautauqua Institute Amphitheater, he somehow made his way on stage with his harmonica, and they performed a couple of Chuck Berry hits.

At Joe’s request, no visitation or services will be held. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
