JoAnn (LaBarbera) Skinner, 80, of Cassadaga, passed away Monday morning, June 29, 2026 at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY. She was born in Jamestown, NY on May 20, 1946, wife of Richard M. Skinner and daughter of the late John and Caroline (Malta) LaBarbera.
JoAnn was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and dedicated many years to serving as a Teacher's Aide with the Fredonia Central School District, where she made a lasting impact on the students and staff she worked alongside before her retirement. Known for her kind heart and caring nature, JoAnn devoted herself to her family and friends, always offering love, compassion, and support to those around her. She found great joy in life's simple pleasures, including trips to the casino, playing bingo, shopping, and spending time in the kitchen. An exceptional baker, JoAnn was especially known for her delicious homemade carrot cake, a favorite among family and friends.
JoAnn is survived by her loving husband Richard M. Skinner; loving children Richard T., Patty and Kim; siblings Pat, Mary Ann, and Ron. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn is preceded in death by her step-father John Taddio, brother Samuel "Bobe" LaBarbera, and her sister Lucille Jakubowski.
Funeral services were held in private at the convenience of the family. Interment was held privately in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave, Dunkirk, NY.
