Joan T. Roward

Joan Teresa (Pomorski) Roward. Peacefully on July 26, 2025. “JoJo” as she was affectionately known was born on May 16, 1935 to Ignatius and Josephine Ludwiczak Pomorski. Jojo was the youngest of 8 siblings all of whom have proceeded her in death .JoJo was a graduate of East Side High in Erie PA, and the St Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She was a proud and dedicated nurse at the Buffalo Veterans Administration Hospital for over 40 years.

Jojos greatest accomplishment was a long and happy marriage to James Joseph Roward whom she married in 1960 and whom she lost in 2022. Jojo is survived by her children Tom (Karen) of Orchard Park, Nancy Jo ( Bob Campomenosi) of Wayne, New Jersey, and Patrick of Hamburg. She was a cherished grandmother to 5 remarkable grandsons, T.J., Luke, John, Joe and Sean whom she loved madly Jojo leaves behind a big extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, 2 brother in laws and many close friends, specifically Shirley Spencer of North Collins. Jojo lived for the last 3 years at St Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home in Silver Creek where she was surrounded by love, laughter and friendship. Jojo's family will be eternally grateful for the care and kindness of the staff of St Columban’s during this chapter of her life. Jojo had a big, open heart who loved her family and friends. She loved her visors, ice cream, hugs, and thrift stores in equal measure. She will be dearly missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Columban’s Retirement Home, 2546 Lake Road, Silver Creek, NY 14136. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for JoJo at the St. Columban’s Chapel on August 23rd, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held in Winter Green Gorge Cemetery, 2601 Norcross Rd, Erie PA 16510 following the Mass. Arrangements provided by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave, Dunkirk, NY.
