Hugo I. Echevarria, 64, of Dunkirk died peacefully at home Friday (Jan. 6, 2023).
He was born May 2, 1958 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Salvador and Felicita (Maldonado) Echevarria.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Hugo was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1976 where he earned his diploma and a certificate of completion to become a Journeyman machinist. Hugo was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1980-1986. As a Journeyman electrician, Hugo traveled all over the United States through his Local 106 for over 25 years; Las Vegas being his favorite location. Hugo finished his career as an employee of the NRG Plant in Dunkirk.
Hugo was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and the Lakeside Club. As an avid Buffalo Bills fan, he never missed a game.
Survivors include two sisters, Helen (Rodger) Pierce of Fredonia and Hilda (Ronald) Moscicki of Batavia; one brother, Harry (Carmen) Echevarria of Dunkirk; three nieces, Adrianna (Floripe) Padua of Dunkirk, Lisandra Echevarria of Dunkirk, and Seryna Ancelet of Napanoch; and one nephew, Camron Rivera of Dunkirk. He was also the proud great-uncle of Camron Rivera Jr. and Amaya and Liyana Padua.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Webster Cemetery, town of Pomfret. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
