Harold Guaraglia, 79, of Dunkirk, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Lazarony) Guaraglia; two sons, Jay and Marc (Rachel) Guaraglia; two grandchildren, Danielle and Allie Guaraglia; one great-granddaughter, Ariah Guaraglia; all of Billings, Montana. He is also survived by one stepdaughter, Kia (Robert) Briggs and two step grandchildren, Robert "RJ" and Mila Briggs of Fredonia, NY. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Hilda (Bridges) Guaraglia and a sister Harriet DePalma.

Harold served in the Military Police unit of the United States Air Force from 1964-1968. After that, he had a 25 year career with the New York State Department of Corrections, starting out as a Corrections Officer and retiring as Superintendent at Summit Correctional Facility, Summit, NY. For the majority of his career, he served as Training Lieutenant at Wallkill Correctional Facility, Wallkill, NY. As a Captain, he was instrumental in the 1989 opening of the Lakeview Correctional Facility in Brocton, NY.

Upon retirement, he started his own antique business. He bought storage lockers in Maryville, Tennessee and spent winters in Gulfport, Florida while his mother was alive. Harold had a great eye for quality antiques and thoroughly enjoyed the art of buying and selling his wares.

He was an avid hunter and spent time during deer season at his cabin he shared with friends in the Catskills. He enjoyed fishing in Lake Erie at Canadaway Creek and riding his four wheeler on the beach with RJ and Mila, who adored him.

Harold was the neighborhood watchdog in the Harrysbourg community, which he loved and lived for 19 years. Upon his wife's retirement from Lakeview Correction Facility, they spent their winters in Fort Myers, Florida.

Lastly, Harold will be sadly missed by family and friends for his wit, storytelling, dry sense of humor, and being a caring husband and friend.
