Eleanor A. Nopper

August 20, 1944 — August 16, 2025

Cassadaga

Eleanor Ann (Donaldson) Nopper, 80, of Cassadaga, NY, entered peacefully into eternal rest just 4 days shy of her 81st birthday on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 20, 1944, in Dunkirk, NY, Eleanor lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and unconditional love.

Eleanor was the beloved wife of the late George Nopper, her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, whom she married on November 26, 1966. George was the love of her life, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith. The two were inseparable, and it brings peace to know they are now reunited in heaven, enjoying eternal rest together.

She was the cherished daughter of the late David Donaldson and Harriet C. (Sarzyniak) Donaldson, and the loving sister of Anna Mary Blodgett and her husband, the late Timothy Blodgett, Margarett (Peg) Glasser and her husband David, and her brother David Donaldson.

Eleanor was the devoted mother of four children, who were the joy of her life: Jeffrey (Aisling Heenan) Nopper, Jennifer (Nopper) Kancar and her husband Timothy, Brian Nopper and his wife Ashley, and Dennis Nopper and his wife Nikki. She was also a proud grandmother to Brittany Nopper, Lindsay Kancar, Brett Kancar, Coleman Nopper, and Nora Nopper, each of whom she adored with all her heart. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she poured her soul into nurturing and guiding them.

A graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School (Class of 1962) and Jamestown Business College, Eleanor dedicated her career to the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services, where her gentle spirit and compassion touched the lives of many.

Though small in stature, Eleanor had a boundless heart, always offering kindness, encouragement, and unconditional love. She had a gentle presence that brought peace to those around her. She and George shared a deep love for the village of Cassadaga, where they made their home, most often found together on their porch overlooking Cassadaga Lake—one of their greatest joys.

Eleanor lived her faith through her love for others and her steadfast trust in God. Her family takes comfort in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Eleanor’s life will be celebrated at a later date with a gathering of family and friends. A private burial will take place at Cassadaga Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Niagara Hospice House, whose extraordinary care and compassion in Eleanor’s final days were a blessing beyond words. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s memory to:

Eleanor will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with George and resting in the loving arms of her Savior.
