Barbara Rafan

She was born Aug. 18, 1942 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Jakubowicz) Kuras.

A lifelong resident of the area, Barbara was a graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School, class of 1960. She had been employed as a lunch aide for the Dunkirk School System and was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Wayne) Clemens of Fredonia and Kathleen Cross of Dunkirk; one son, Michael (Diane) Rafan of Fredonia; one brother, Robert (Chris) Kuras of Dunkirk; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Rafan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, at 9:15 from the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Calling hours will be held today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we ask that a donation be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
