Arthur D. Anders, 79, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.

Born April 2, 1946 in Dunkirk, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Adriana G. Anders. A 1963 graduate of Dunkirk High School, Mr. Anders served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He was a graduate of Jamestown Community College and attended SUNY Fredonia State University. He worked for the New York State Thruway Authority for many years, including a number of years as a supervisor, until his retirement.

A member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Mr. Anders was a member and past officer of many local clubs including American Legion Post 62 of Dunkirk, First Ward Falcons, the Kosciuszko Club, Dunkirk Lakeside Club, Dunkirk Exempts, Moniuszko Social Club, Dom Polski, and World War II Vets Club.

He is survived by two sisters, Deborah (Edward) Silverman of Hamburg and Denise (Gary) Zaffalon of Dunkirk; two nieces; two nephews; and one grandniece.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by R. Michael Mackowiak III; McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY. 

Donations can be made in Mr. Anders’ memory to the Angel Campaign of Northern Chautauqua Catholic School in Dunkirk.
