Aldene L. Anderson

Aldene L. “Deanie” Anderson, 90, of Dunkirk, formerly El Segundo, Calif., went home to be with the Lord, on Monday morning (March 14, 2022) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 6, 1931, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Cross) Lautner.

Aldene grew up in Bradford and was a graduate of Bradford High School, class of 1949. She lived in the area since 1978 and formerly lived in California and Buffalo, N.Y.

Aldene had been employed as a caregiver for Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. in Dunkirk. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dunkirk, and the Dunkirk Historical Society. She was a descendant of the members of the 154th Regiment, N.Y. Infantry Volunteers (The Hard Tack Regiment) from the Civil War. She was also a past member of Concerned Women for America.

Survivors include two sons: Mark (Maria) Anderson of Oceanside, Calif., and Garry Anderson of Newport, Tenn.; one daughter, Melanie (Glenn) Mann of Fredonia; one sister, Dorothy Gross of Cattaraugus; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Anderson, who died Jan. 19, 2004 and whom she married Nov. 26, 1954; and one sister, Nancy Leichner.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 876 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Pastor Mark Massaro will officiate. Burial will be in Bolivar Run Cemetery, Bradford, Pa.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
